As many people would agree, the most successful projects tend to be the projects that foster an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration. Such was the case on the TripAdvisor Headquarters project. As the first phase of a 13.68 acre, multi-phased corporate office park development, the TripAdvisor Headquarters is comprised of office/research and development structures with a total square footage of 820,000+/-. We worked in close collaboration with Normandy Real Estate, Avison Young, Elkus Manfredi Architects, and Tetra Tech (civil engineering) to realize a place that is not only functional and aesthetic, but is actively contributing to environmental sustainability via the use of permeable pavement and a rain garden network. The inclusion of outdoor site amenities, plazas, and habitat friendly gardens activate the pedestrian experience throughout the entire campus and will continue to flourish with each passing season.
Founded by Jade Cummings & Kellie Connelly, two current educators in the field of landscape architecture, Terraink is a landscape architecture firm deeply committed to professional practice, responsive design, and the ongoing mentorship of its employees.
“We are so inspired by and appreciative of our community of peers, clients, and employees. The work of designing and building a landscape is necessarily a collaborative one and requires a strong team to be successful. We work hard to have a positive and inspiring impact on every landscape we touch while improving the experience of everyone on our team, no matter the scale of the project or services required. We truly love the work that we do and are excited for the future of this rapidly changing and rewarding field.”
JADE & KELLIE
Kellie is a registered landscape architect experienced in all phases of site design and implementation through to contract administration. Kellie holds a Master in Landscape Architecture degree from Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design. Kellie is adept at balancing environmental and aesthetic needs with user and site engineering requirements. She is additionally experienced in providing visual impact assessment services, having evaluated numerous projects with respect to visual impacts and potential mitigation measures. She keeps our work focused and our operations on point every step of the way. Along with Jade, Kellie has been a visiting instructor at the Rhode Island School of Design teaching sustainable design and construction in the fall semester.
Mariana brings over fifteen years of landscape design practice in a wide range of public and private land development projects and has an acute understanding of the design process, including the ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary teams. Mariana has experience in larger scale planning processes through the development of a citywide Open Space and Recreation Plan and its complete (39) Playground Safety Inspections. Having been part of several rewarding community outreach processes, she understands the vital role that stakeholders play in the successful implementation of any project, the importance of integrating the client’s goals and the community’s needs, with the realities of site constraint, schedule, and budget.
Kelly received her Bachelor’s Degree in the Science of Landscape Architecture from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Since her graduation, Kelly has been immersed in her hands-on experience within the design-build field, which accelerated her passion for her projects, her clients, and her colleagues. She has recently become a Massachusetts Certified Landscape Professional (MCLP) and looks forward to furthering her knowledge as she is earnestly working toward her professional licensure!
We don’t work all the time! We really mean it when we tell our employees (and remind each other) that work is not everything and sometimes, what we do outside of the office brilliantly informs our work Monday–Friday.
Professional inspirations regularly inform Jade’s artwork in printmaking and reclaimed wood sculpture, while her passion for teaching provides further (never ending!) opportunities for collaboration and creative expression.
A passionate winter mountaineer and a four-season leader for the Appalachian Mountain Club (AMC), Kellie has climbed Mount Rainier twice and reached a summit record of 18,700 feet in the Cordillera Blanca; Peru in 2019.
Mariana enjoys sharing her daily professional experiences with her students at the Boston Architectural Center.
In her spare time, Kelly loves spending time outdoors and is an avid distance runner. She is now training to run the Boston Marathon in 2020!
In his spare time, Saket loves to explore his surroundings in the pursuit of finding interesting buildings to sketch and beautiful landscapes to photograph!
We are inspired by the fresh ideas and innovative approaches of our employees and are dedicated to supporting their future goals as they engage in the practice of landscape revitalization and stewardship. If you are passionate about the practice of landscape architecture, eager to learn more, and committed to working with a collaborative and professional team, we would love to hear from you!
